The "Hi, I'm Phil..." Blip

From my wife's perspective:

Having now celebrated our 7th anniversary, in September of 2012, I have learned a lot about my husband. We are very very different, yet the important things are the same. Our love for Jesus and to serve him in all areas of our lives, our desires to learn and grow, and to continue to change as God would have us. To make each other laugh and not be too serious... though Phil is way better at that... one of his often quoted Bible verses, 'Don't take yourself to seriously, take God seriously', Micah 6:8 (the Message)

Phil is always up for an adventure and always dreaming new dreams. Whatever he is working on, he puts lots of energy and time...until the next idea comes along....We are the proud owners of many projects and project vehicles. Camping and going out in our Jeep exploring are always at the top of his list.

Something that has never changed is his love for his beloved hockey team, the Winnipeg Jets. Though they were not a team when were were first married (they had moved to Arizona in 1995), his passion to get 'them back in Winnipeg' never waned. He never stopped wearing Jets clothing and we even have a room decorated with Jets paraphernalia. Then in 2011 his dream became a reality and he can now once again cheer on the Jets!!

Over these past 7 years, we have bought 3 houses, sold 2, moved 300 miles away from anyone we know to change jobs from a youth pastor to an associate pastor. We have celebrated great joys, like the births of our daughter, then son. And shared great sorrow at the unexpected death of our 8 month old son. We are determined to push on, holding on to our hope in Jesus for strength.

I have loved watching Phil take his job as a dad seriously, loving, caring, and laughing with our kids. Along with loving and caring for me.

A couple areas where I see Phil has a passion for others and seeing them grow is: in their marriage, as parents, and learning to be wise financially. Phil has counseled many couples in all of these areas, we have led small groups, and are currently leaders of our church's college group, in which we are doing our best to encourage a firm foundation in Christ and wisdom in making choices for their future.
